DESCRIPTION
In February 2022, I embarked on my inaugural Unity project, initiating the development of Hot Potatoe – a dynamic multiplayer party game inspired by the classic game of Tag.
The game currently features a playable basic concept in local multiplayer, utilizing entirely self-made assets. This approach not only allowed me to grasp the complete workflow of game development but also facilitated a deeper understanding of Unity's intricacies.
Hot Potatoe accommodates up to 8 players per round, with one player randomly designated as 'it'. This player must make contact with others to tag them, leading to their elimination after a brief interval. The round concludes when only one player remains.
Key insights gained include proficiency in Unity fundamentals, adept asset management utilizing the Addressables package, the implementation of a bespoke event system, integration of the new input system in Unity, proficient camera tracking, and mastering 2D animation techniques.
